Countdown to Adventure

9 days. Yesterday I stopped at REI and bought a bunch of protein bars and bags of jerky to fill my little backpack. I also stopped at Half Price Books and bought "The Stand" by Stephen King to read on the plane.

I know I've still got a little over a week, but I'm already packing everything save the things I use every day (like my toothbrush). Looking at the weather, it's been an average of 10 degrees cooler in England than here, and 20 degrees cooler in Scotland than here, so I'm planning my packing accordingly. All my tank tops, a few light sweaters, a heavier sweater, a few scarves, and a rain coat should have me covered and comfortable the entire adventure. And, yes, I'm taking my umbrella.

Trip Adviser and my friends who have visited or lived in the UK recently have been invaluable in helping me choose places to eat, things to do and see that cost little-to-nothing, and suggestions for off-the-beaten-path day trips that aren't your average tourist traps. Of course, I'm still open to more suggestions if you've got a "must-see" or "must-do" that I just can't afford to miss.

I stumbled across a spare 4gig card for my camera, so between two cards (which I can unload on my mini computer at night) and my phone with  my fun little clip-on lenses, I should have pictures that will take me weeks to sort through when I get back!

What is amusing to me is all the people who are trying to pin me down for lunch or dinner in the next week. Guys, I won't have anything interesting to talk about until I get back...

So, everyone going to DragonCon, have a great time! Everyone not going to DragonCon, I will not be here to commiserate with you this year. Everyone not going to the UK... it's OK to be a little jealous of me :)

I'm not promising anything because I don't know what the wifi situations will be at my various hostels and B&Bs, but I will try to blog, Instagram (@jocelynjaetanis), Tweet (@taniswriter), and Facebook (Actress Jocelyn 'Jae' Tanis, or my personal page for friends & family) at least a few times in the 2 1/2 weeks I'm there. I'm also asking for Skype contact info for anyone who has Skype (feel free to PM me on Facebook if you don't want just anyone to have your info).

I'll still be on the shorter form social media for the next week, and you can expect a crazy amount of posts and pictures at the end of September when I get home. See you on the flip side!
